(FREDERICTON, NB) The Carleton Ravens, working on the power-play, scored with 43 left in overtime to beat the UNB Reds 2-1 in women's hockey exhibition play, Thursday night.

First year forward Jenna Morais (Burlington, ON) found a loose puck in front of the Reds net at 4:17 of overtime and fired it past goalie Kendra Woodland (Kamloops, BC) for the win.

Woodland had just made a sprawling save and the puck bounced off the end boards, right onto Morais' stick.

The two teams skated through a scoreless first period before the Ravens opened the scoring at 8:41 of the second on a goal by Halle Bodnarchuk (Okotoks, AB).

With time winding down in the second, and the Reds short-handed, Katherine Chadwick (Kanata, ON) snapped a low shot past Ravens' keeper Alexandra Lehmann (Cecil Lake, BC) to tie the game 1-1.

The Reds had chances late in the third and in overtime, but couldn't find the winner.

"We need to capitalize when we have opportunities," said Reds head coach Sarah Hilworth. "We had some golden opportunities, with pucks on the line, and we couldn't put the puck in the net. We've got to get back to scoring goals. It comes back to practice habits. We're still such a young group that we still need to learn."

The Ravens outshot the Reds 33-21.

"I was happy with the first period, but we let them back in the game and it's not the result that we wanted," said Hilworth.

The Reds now take their exhibition season on the road.

They face the UPEI Panthers on Saturday, at the Miramichi Civic Centre. Game time is 2:00pm.

UNB's Atlantic University Sport regular season opener is Friday, October 4th, at 7:00pm, at the Aitken Centre. The Panthers will provide the opposition.
