In 2022-23, Jeff Speedy is in his 17th season as head coach of the REDS.

Following 2021-22, and minus the 2020-21 season, lost to the pandemic, he's guided the REDS to seven consecutive Atlantic University Sport playoff appearances.

In his 16 seasons to date, Speedy's teams have earned 12 playoff berths, and he's coached nine different student-athletes to a total of 15 AUS All-Star selections.

Speedy came to UNB ahead of the 2006 season, after four seasons as head coach at the University of Regina, where he led the Cougars to a Canada West championship and a national (then CIS) silver medal in 2004. Previously, he served as both head and an assistant coach at the University of Victoria, helping lead the Vikes to Canada West and national championships in 1992 as an assitant, and Canada West and national silver medals in 1993, as head coach. He spent a year (1990-91) as an assistant at Acadia, the school where he played.

Speedy holds a Bachelor of Physical Education, from Acadia, and a Masters of Education, from Victoria.

He served as an assistant coach with Canada's women's development team (2013-2017), and was named UNB's Assistant Director of Athletics in 2017.

Speedy was born and raised in Florenceville. He's married to Linda (MacKinnon) Speedy. They have a son, Brett, and a daughter, Kylee. In 2020, Kylee joined the REDS. 2022-23 marks her third season with the team.
