(FREDERICTON, NB) The UNB REDS are celebrating what they say is a recruiting win in the commitment of guard Lillian Fuller, from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

The 5’7” Fuller has signed a U SPORTS Letter of Intent and will join the REDS ahead of the 2023-2024 Atlantic University Sport season.

“We’re really excited to get this commitment from Lillian,” said REDS head coach Jeff Speedy. “Most, if not all of the top teams in the AUS were recruiting her, so we are, obviously, happy she’s chosen UNB and the REDS.”

The 17-year-old Fuller is completing her Grade 12 year at Halifax Grammar School, where she’s playing her fourth and final season of high school basketball as a member of the Gryphons senior girls varsity team.

In 2022, Fuller was a member of Nova Scotia’s U17 provincial team.

“I’ll bring intensity, competitiveness and a huge desire to win,” she said. “I’ll feel I can contribute offensively and defensively as well.”

“I chose the REDS because of the environment created by the players and the coaches, who I immediately connected with,” said Fuller. “I love their style of play and the competitive nature of the team.”

Fuller says she wants to help build on a winning culture that will lead UNB to AUS championships and wants to constantly improve her game so she can contribute to the team’s success.

“Lillian works hard, plays with an edge, and is really talented,” said Coach Speedy. “She’s going to have an immediate impact on our team and have a great U SPORTS career.”

Fuller will study Arts while attending UNB.
