(WOLFVILLE, NS) The Acadia Axewomen ran their win streak to three games with a 92–71 win over the UNB REDS, Saturday night, in Wolfville.

The Axewomen were led by Subway Player of the Game Haley McDonald (Port Williams, NS), who scored 32 points and recorded nine rebounds and eight assists.

Marley Curwin (Halifax, NS) led UNB with 15 points and was a threat from deep, converting three of her team's nine made threes.

Both teams were looking to secure the best seed possible for the upcoming playoffs, which made for a high-energy match.

It was fast-paced between the top two scoring teams in Atlantic University Sport. Both teams had four players scoring in double figures.

UNB made a push in the second quarter as they dug in on defense, but were not able to regain the lead after the opening quarter.

Acadia's Sarah Delorey (Elmsdale, NS) and Elizabeth Iseyemi (Dartmouth, NS) each recorded a double-double. Delorey scored 17 points and grabbed 15 rebounds while Iseyemi had 14 points and 10 rebounds. Samantha Russell (Dartmouth, NS) also provided a boost off the bench for the Axewomen, scoring 15 points in the contest.

For the REDS, former Axewoman Jayda Veinot (Port Williams, NS) added 15 points along with 10 rebounds in her return to Acadia. Erin Ingalls (St. George, NB) added 11 points and eight rebounds off of the bench, while Jolianne Guay (Prévost, QC) contributed 10 points.

The win further cements Acadia as the top seed in the AUS with a 12-3 record.

The REDS drop to 9-7, currently tied for fourth in the conference standings.

The Axewomen remain at home next weekend to face the Memorial Sea-Hawks on next Saturday and Sunday.

UNB will host the StFX X-Women on Sunday. Game time is 2:00pm.
