(FREDERICTON, NB) The UNB Reds are adding guard Jolianne Guay to the fold, beginning in the 2019-2020 season.
Guay, from Prévost, Quebec, has signed a U SPORTS Letter of Intent and will join the Reds next season.
She’s coming off a stellar season at Collége Montmorency, in Laval, where she averaged 16.9 points per game and earned 2018-19 RSEQ Division 2 All-Star status.
“I’m excited that Jolianne is joining us,” said Reds head coach Jeff Speedy. “She can shoot the three, she rebounds very well and uses her length to do a great job defensively. I also love her compete level and how much winning means to her.”
“I chose UNB because the first time I met the team and the coaches, I immediately felt very comfortable and confident,” said Guay. “They have a really close team and that is the very important for me. Also, I love their style of play and can’t wait to be on the court with them.”
Guay finished in the top five in RSEQ Division 2 scoring, leading Montmorency to an 8-6 record, and a 4th place finish in the eight-team league.
“I will bring some intensity to practices and games and I’ll be a good teammate,” said Guay.
“Playing CEGEP has definitely prepared Jolianne to play at the USPORTS level,” said Coach Speedy. “She will play and help us right away.”
