The 2023-24 season will mark Coach McMorran's 20th season at the helm of the REDS.

After taking over the team in 2004, McMorran has compiled an impressive record, leading UNB to five AUS championships (2011, 2013, 2016, 2017, 2018), including three straight titles. Three times (2007, 2008, 2011) McMorran was named AUS Coach of the Year. In 2011, he was named CIS (now U SPORTS) Coach of the Year.

In 323 regular season matches, through the completion of the 2022-23 season, McMorran has coached the Reds to a 154-169 record.

The first 264 (140-124) matches of McMorran's coaching career came as the REDS competed in the Atlantic University Sport conference. In 2018, UNB moved to the RSEQ, going 14-45 in their first four competitive seasons. The 2020-21 season was lost to the pandemic.

Prior to taking over the REDS program, he was the head coach of the St. Thomas University Tommies.

McMorran was a UNB student-athlete, serving as captain of the men's volleyball team during his playing days, earning Academic All-Canadian status, and UNB Athletic's prestigious Ring of Distinction.

He holds Bachelor of Physical Education and Education Degress from UNB and is a NCCP Level 3 certified coach. McMorran is a former Team New Brunswick Canada Games coach, and now serves as a provincial team mentor coach and the High Performance Male Chair for Volleyball New Brunswick.

A native of Oromocto, NB, Dan is married to former REDS student-athlete Amanda (Wood) McMorran. They have two sons, Finn and Callum.
