(HALIFAX, NS) The UNB Varsity Reds beat the Sherbrooke Vert et Or 3-1(23-25, 25-23, 25-17, and 25-19) in AUS-RSEQ men's volleyball interlock action, hosted by the Dalhousie Tigers.

Sherbrooke came out on top in the first set after trading points with UNB all the way through. Tied 20-20, the Vert et Or were able to gain the advantage and take the set 25-23.

The Varsity Reds took the second set to even the match, after earning and maintaining a lead following the technical timeout and some key service errors by Sherbrooke.

UNB got out to an early lead in the third, with Sherbrooke struggling to put together any point-runs. Eivind Andersen(Sandnes, NOR) served strong to lead the Varsity Reds to a 25-17 win and a 2-1 advantage heading into the fourth set.

Sherbrooke was forced to play catch-up early in the fourth, after UNB built a five-point lead. They increased the gap to six, capitalizing on Sherbrooke attack errors, and were leading 16-9 at the technical timeout. Sherbrooke worked hard to catch up, but UNB held them back, taking the fourth and final set 25-19.

Andersen had 13 kills and six digs, while Tristen Burridge(Fort St. John, BC) had 10 kills, nine digs and three service aces for UNB.

Sherbrooke struggled offensively with 30 attack errors in the match. Hugo Rosso-Bonneau(Richelieu, QC) had 10 kills and eight digs to lead the way for the Vert et Or.

In their next games, UNB will face Laval, Saturday at 6:00PM, while Sherbrooke will face the host Tigers at 8PM.
