(FREDERICTON, NB) The University of Winnipeg Wesmen completed a three exhibition match sweep of the UNB Varsity Reds with a 3-0 win, Friday at UNB's Richard J. Currie Center.

Winnipeg won 25-17, 25-16 and 25-19.

David Bommersbach(Winnipeg, MB) led the Wesmen with 14 kills, while Logan Brennan(Bragg Creek, AB) registered 14 digs.

Tristen Burridge(Fort St. John, BC) had 8 kills for UNB.

Ryan Colpitts(Fredericton, NB) had 7 digs for the Varsity Reds.

"We were looking for a turnaround performance tonight," said Varsity Reds head coach Dan McMorran. "We were unable to get the job done. The second set was a pretty close set, and when we were down 16-18, we could only manage to score one more point to lose 17-25."

McMorran says he saw some great play from his team, but not enough.

"It's disappointing to say the least, as we're failing to execute in crucial situations," he said.

Despite dropping all three matches, McMorran feels they were good preparation as the Varsity Reds ready themselves for the second half of the regular season.

"Those were great matches for us to be in, at this time of the year," said McMorran. "With some illnesses and injuries, we have been forced to use a variety of different lineups and have seen some great performances from a few of our younger players. This will no doubt pay off for us in the second half."

UNB resumes the Atlantic University Sport regular season on January 13th, with interlock play against RSEQ teams, at Dalhousie University.
