(FREDERICTON, NB) Kris Bennett (Brampton, ON) and Alexandre Goulet (Disraeli, QC) each scored twice as the UNB Reds beat the Moncton Aigles Bleus 7-3 in game two of their Atlantic University Sport semi final series, on Friday.

With the win, the Reds go up two-games-to-none in the series.

"Our goal this season is to be the most improved team," said Reds head coach Gardiner MacDougall. "I thought we had a really strong second half and found a way to do that, and now its just one opponent and you find ways within a game to be the most improved."

Bennett added an assist for a three-point night, and that earned him the Subway Player of the Game award.

Stephen Anderson (Morell, PE) had a goal and two assists in the game.

Moncton would come out with a strong start, getting the better of the scoring chances in the first half of the opening period.

But, the Reds would break through with under five minutes left in the first as Tyler Boland (St. John's, NL) crashed the net to shovel home the opening goal. Off the next faceoff, Goulet would burn the Aigles Bleus to make it 2-0, just 11 seconds later. Goulet wouldn't take long to add to that either, scoring his second of the game another 21 seconds later to make it 3-0 at first intermission.

"That was the spark that we needed," said Goulet. "Tyler Boland did a great job to get it started with a big goal and after that we had momentum."

Moncton would stay resilient and create a tough battle for UNB in the second period, and with just over five minutes left, Olivier Desjardins (Drummondville, QC) finished off a back-door pass from Gabriel Vanier (Boisbriand, QC) to cut the Reds lead to 3-1.

The Reds would restore their three-goal cushion just 36 seconds into the third period, with a power-play goal by Anderson.

Two minutes later, Vincent Deslauriers (Blainville, QC) would answer for the Aigles Bleus with a power-play goal to make it 4-2, only to have Bennett restore the deficit just 40 seconds later to make it 5-2.

Connor Hall (Cambridge, ON) would fire home a point shot three minutes afterwards to extend the UNB lead to 6-2.

Bennett and Deslauriers would each put home their second of the night for their respective sides to make it a 7-3 final.

Shots on goal were 44-to-20 for the Reds.

Rylan Parenteau (Saskatoon, SK) made 17 saves in the win for the Reds, while Etienne Montpetit (Valleyfield, QC) made 37 for les Aigles Bleus

Game three of the best of five series is Monday night, in Moncton. Game time is 7:00pm.
