(FREDERICTON, NB) The Lakehead Thunderwolves beat the UNB REDS 86-57 in preseason play on Friday, at UNB's Richard J. Currie Center.

Michael Okafor (Toronto, ON) and Alton Harris (Ottawa, ON) each scored 11 points and Javier Fernandez (Zaragoza, Spain) grabbed nine rebounds to lead the visiting Thunderwolves.

Norm Burry led the hometown REDS, scoring a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds, both game highs.

"I thought there were times that we lacked energy," said Burry. "They out did us on the offensive glass tonight, something we've really got to work on."

Lakehead outscored the REDS 49-31 in the first half and held UNB to just 26 more in the second.

Lakehead shot almost 47% from the field, while the REDS were held to 27.5% shooting.

"We're a young group this year and we've got a lot to prove. We've got a lot to work on too and I think this game showed that," said Burry.

A weekend of exhibition basketball at UNB continues Saturday with Lakehead taking on the St. Thomas Tommies, of the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association, and UNB hosting Acadia.
