REDS Fall To Huskies

(HALIFAX, NS) The UNB REDS opened a weekend series against the Saint Mary's Huskies with an 83-59 loss, in Halifax, on Friday.

The REDS shot with a little over 30% efficiency, going 21-for-69 from the field.

The Huskies led by nine after one quarter and by 18 at the half.

The REDS rallied in the third quarter, but couldn't stop a strong Saint Mary's side.

Tyrell Leotaud (Ajax, ON) led the REDS effort, scoring 14 points. Chris Spurrell (Quispamsis, NB) added 11, while Ibrahima Doumbouya grabbed six rebounds.

Reese Zorogle (Halifax, NS) came off the REDS bench to score 10 points.

Nikita Kasongo (Chateauguay, QC) scored a game-high 25 points and pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds for Saint Mary's.

Gyemah Gibson (Nassau, BAH) poured in 22 points.

Four of the five Huskies' starters scored in double digits.

The Huskies remain unbeaten, at 3-and-0, while the REDS are now 1-and-2 to start the Atlantic University Sport season.

The weekend series concludes Saturday evening. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00pm.
