(HALIFAX, NS) The Saint Mary's Huskies beat the UNB Varsity Reds 86-77 on Saturday.

UNB's Javon Masters led all scorers with 32 points. He added five rebounds in the loss, as the Varsity Reds drop to 9-7, with 24 points in AUS play.

Dylan Baker chipped in 18 points for UNB, while Mark Matheson's double-double was worth 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Both teams were tied 18-18 after the opening ten minutes and SMU used a 19-15 second quarter score to take a 37-33 lead at half.

The Huskies' 26-21 third quarter increased their cushion to nine after thirty minutes, 63-54.

The final quarter went 23-23 and SMU held on for the 86-77 victory.

Saint Mary's improves to 6-8 with 14 points in conference play.

Brian Rouse paced the Huskies with 26 points and five rebounds.

Theon Reefer added 23 points for SMU, while Kemar Alleyne had 14.

The Varsity Reds play three of their final four regular season games at home.

On Saturday, they host St. FX in a four-point affair. It will be Think Pink/Shoot For The Cure Night at the Richard J. Currie Center.
