(FREDERICTON, NB) The STFX X-Men used a four-goal, fourth quarter run to beat the UNB REDS 9-5, in Maritime University Field Lacrosse League action, on Sunday afternoon at UNB’s BMO Centre.

Midfielder Nick Parsons lead the way for the REDS, scoring a hat-trick in the loss, while attackmen Mac Huckla added a goal and four assists.

“I think we need to improve on how we play together as a unit,” said Parsons. “We need to improve on our communication as a team and going harder in practices these next two weeks will help us get ready for our next games.”

STFX held a narrow lead over the REDS heading into the fourth quarter after a goal from Payton Tasse at the 8:24 mark of the 3rd gave the X-Men the 5-4 advantage.

The X-Men offense then exploded for four goals in the final quarter.

STFX was led by Peter Lattazi, who had two of his three goals on the day in the final quarter.

UNB is now 1-and-3 on the season and sits in fifth place in the MUFLL standings.

The REDS will now have a week off before hosting the Mount Allison Mounties on Friday, Oct. 14 at 7:00pm at BMO Centre. They hit the road to face the UPEI Panthers on Sunday, Oct. 16 at 2:00pm.
