(FREDERICTON, NB) The UNB Reds brand is about to hit the road.

A Trius bus has been wrapped in Reds livery, part of a new five-year partnership between the Reds and Trius Inc.

“Trius continues to be the official carrier of the Reds, and we’re really happy that one of their buses now carries the Reds brand too,” said John Richard, UNB’s Director of Athletics. “This bus and the Reds brand will be seen all around the region and in other parts of the country. That exposure is something we haven’t had in a while. It means a lot to us.”

The bus wrapped in the Reds logo and colours made its first trip to UNB’s Fredericton campus on Thursday, attracting a crowd of impressed on-lookers.

“It’s very cool,” said Mikaela Dodig, a member of the Reds women’s basketball team. “It’s amazing to see. I can’t wait to hit the road on this.”

“You always want to turn heads,” said Sarah Hilworth, head coach of UNB’s women’s hockey team. “I think every student-athlete and every coach and everyone who is part of this Athletics Department is so proud of UNB, and our logo, so for us to be able to turn heads on the road and showcase ourselves, I think it’s just one more way to show how awesome we are.”

The new Reds bus makes its first official road trip next week, carrying the women’s soccer team to Ottawa. UNB will take on Carleton and Ottawa in exhibition games, August 21stand 22nd.

Only one Trius bus is emblazoned with the Reds colours and logos, and all of the Reds teams will have an opportunity to use the bus on road trips throughout their seasons. At times when more than one Reds team is on the road, some teams will travel on regularly labelled Trius buses.

“Sign FX and Trius have done a fantastic job with that bus,” said Hilworth. “I’m excited to travel in it and I know our student-athletes are going to be pretty excited to see that bus roll up when we get to hit the road.”
