The UNB Reds/Papa John’s Pizza male Athlete of the Week is Patrick Watling, from the men’s hockey team.
Watling had a great week, helping UNB score a pair of victories.
In Friday’s 4-0 home-opening win over Moncton, he scored twice, including a short-handed goal, and added an assist, earning 1st star and Player of the Game honours.
In Saturday’s 3-2 road win at UPEI, Watling had another strong game, where he was plus 1, helping the Reds improve to 3-and-1 on the season.
“Patrick continues to show rapid improvement in his performance level. That was especially evident when he earned 1st star in our home-opening victory,” said Reds head coach Gardiner MacDougall. “He is one of our fittest players and his work ethic and extra training have taken him to new achievement levels.
Watling and his teammates host St FX and Dal in games on Friday and Saturday.
