The UNB Reds/Papa John’s Pizza male Athlete of the Week is Connor McConnell, from the men’s volleyball team.
The fourth-year Reds outside hitter led the team in a pair of road victories over the Dalhousie Tigers.
In Friday’s hard-fought 3-2 win over the Tigers, McConnell registered 19 kills, 11 digs and five blocks.
On Saturday, in the Reds 3-0 triumph, he had 14 kills and 10 digs.
“Connor had two excellent performances against our conference rivals, helping us cap our regular season with a couple of big wins,” said Reds head coach Dan McMorran. “The most impressive aspect of his game is that he’s making major contributions both offensively and defensively, and is proving he’s one of the most dominating players in the country.”
McConnell and his Reds teammates head to Montreal this weekend to face the Carabins in the RSEQ semi-finals.
