Rodrigues Runs 3rd At AUS Championships

(STRATFORD, PE) First-year RED Sierra Rodrigues claimed the bronze medal in the women's 8-kilometre event at the Subway Atlantic University Championships, in Stratford, Prince Edward Island, hosted by the UPEI Panthers.

Rodrigues finished in a time of 30:28, just 11 seconds back of the winner.

"I'm exhausted, but I'm very happy with the way it went," said Rodrigues. "The last K was definitely a battle, but I was feeling good for most of it, which was good."

Allie Sandluck won the race, leading the STFX X-Women to their second consecutive team title. X-Women teammate Mairin Canning was second.

Canning beat Rodrigues to the line by one second.

The X-Women placed five runners place in the top ten.

Dalhousie finished second in the team standings while with the REDS took third.

UNB's Hilary Bishop ran 10th and Georgia Bernhard ran 11th.

Rodrigues was named the AUS Rookie of the Year in women's cross country.

In the team standings, Acadia finished fourth while Moncton was fifth, followed by UPEI, Memorial and Saint Mary's.
