Reds Complete Sweep

(ST. JOHN'S, NL) The UNB Reds completed a three-match weekend sweep of the Memorial Sea-Hawks, beating the host Hawks 3-1 on Sunday.

 

The Reds won with scores of 25-17, 25-23, 23-25, and 25-21.

 

With the win, UNB's record improves to 11-and-8.

 

Memorial's season came to an end Sunday. The Sea-Hawks finish with an 0-and-20 record.

 

Adora Rooyakkers (Port Hawkesbury, NS) was a standout for the Reds, recording 10 kills and 19 digs. Paige Lehto (North Vancouver, BC) registered another dominant performance, dishing out 33 assists, while also registering two kills.

 

The young Sea-Hawks were outmatched at times, but fought throughout and took the an exciting third set to extend the match. Alyssa Warford (Corner Brook, NL) led the Hawks in kills with 10, while also providing eight digs. Cecile Dumaresque (St. John's, NL) had a well-rounded game, finishing with nine kills, seven digs, and three blocks.

 

The Reds, fourth in the Atlantic University Sport standings, play their final regular season game on Friday, when they host Moncton. First serve is at 7:00pm.
