(WOLFVILLE, NS) The host Acadia Axewomen woke up after the opening game and delivered three straight set wins to take a 3-1 match win over the UNB Reds at the Atlantic University Sport league tournament, in Wolfville.

Adora Rooyakkers (Port Hawkesbury, NS) led the Reds with six kills.

Rooyakkers' late first set kill tied the game at 18 and another timely kill gave the Reds a  20-19 lead that would not fall as UNB grabbed a first set 25-23 win.

The Axewomen pulled out to a commanding 9-2 early second set advantage and pushed the lead to 22-9 before handing UNB a 25-12 loss.

Subway Player of the Game Regan Herrington (Newmarket, ON) was worthy of the title, offering an amazing 41 assists that led to 25-14 and 25-15 wins in the third and four sets.

Lucy Glen-Carter (Toronto, ON) added to Herrington's performance with 18 kills. Micaela Sabean (Bridgewater, NS)  recorded 18 digs.

The Axewomen take on Saint Mary's at 1:00pm on Saturday and Moncton at 7:00pm.

The face Dalhousie at 11:00am Saturday, and return to court at 7:00pm against Saint Mary's.
