(FREDERICTON, NB) Julia Currie, Natasha Luedtke and Heidi Lauwerijssen each scored twice to lead the UNB REDS in a 9-0 win over the UNB Saint John Seawolves in exhibition play on Friday afternoon.

The REDS play in Atlantic University Sport while the Seawolves play in the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association.

Jillian LaRose, Aurora Hughes-Goyette and Allie Hughes-Goyette also struck goals for the REDS.

The home team scored five goals in the opening half and added four more in the second.

Seawolves’ keeper Jillian Smith was busy, facing more than 50 shots.

Strong UNB defending meant REDS’ first-year keeper Ava Henry only had to deal with a handful of shots.

The win is the first for the REDS in three preseason games.

The REDS will conclude their exhibition schedule on Wednesday, when they travel to Orono, Maine, to face the University of Maine Black Bears, of the NCAA.
