(SACKVILLE, NB) The UNB Varsity Reds finished the AUS women's soccer regular season, on Saturday, with a 2-0 win over the Mounties, at Mount Allison University.
The host Mounties found themselves down 1-0 at halftime as a result of Sylvie Fecteau's(Moncton, NB) first half goal for UNB.
The Varsity Reds extended their lead to 2-0 in the 70th minute, when Lauren Cubbon(Saskatoon, SK) found the back of the net.
With the win, UNB finishes fifth in the AUS and advances to the playoffs, next weekend. The 2016 Subway AUS Women's Soccer Championship will be played at Cape Breton University. The Mounties, with a 1-9-2 record, finished in ninth place.
Rebecca Duda(Halifax, NS) earned the shut-out in the UNB net.
