(FREDERICTON, NB) Tamina Kehler (Chilliwack, BC) and Ashley Stratton (Mount Pearl, NL) each scored twice, and Sage McElroy-Scott (Morden, MB) had five points as the UNB Reds beat the Dalhousie Tigers 10-0 on Sunday afternoon.

McElroy-Scott's efforts earned her the Subway Player of the Game nod.

"I think this year a lot of us are a lot more comfortable and you can really tell that the girls are giving it their all," said McElroy-Scott. "I think that we are going to give a lot of good teams a run for their money."

The game opened with some great back and forth action for both teams.

Frederike Cyr (Candiac, QC) would get the first chance, just five minutes into the game, ringing a shot off the post.

Stratton would put a hot shot on goal just a few minutes later and this time it would beat Taylor Beam (Brooklin, ON), in the Tigers net, for a 1-0 UNB lead.

Kehler would follow that just 1:37 later, a power-play goal to make it 2-0 for the home team.

With just 1:22 left in the period, the Reds would execute a flawless breakout up the ice and into the Tigers zone. Sydney DesRochers (Woodstock, NB) would crash the net to finish the play for the 3-0 goal.

UNB wasn't done, as Myah Bowel (Terrace, BC) tipped a shot from Cyr into the Dal net with just 0.6 seconds left to give the Reds a 4-0 lead at first intermission.

Just under five minutes into the second, the Reds would keep their offence rolling with Stratton scoring her second of the game.

McElroy-Scott would get in on the scoring next, putting home the Reds' second power-play goal of the game to make it 6-0.

Cyr would score to make it 7-0, and Kehler would add her second of the game to make it 8-0 at second intermission.

Kaelyn Budden (Halifax, NS) came in in relief of Beam to start the third period in the Dal net.

Paige Grenier (Olds, AB) and Hanna Matchett (Nanton, AB) would add third period goals to make it a 10-0 final.

Shots on goal were 29-19 for the Reds.

Hailey Martens (Ladysmith, BC) made 19 saves to get the shutout for the Reds, while Beam made 13 saves and Budden made six for the Tigers.

The game was the Reds inaugural 'You Can Play' Game, and saw a number of fund-raising initiatives in play for Fredericton's Youth Imprint Associaition, a group that promotes safe play and sport for LBGTQ+ youth and young adults. Those initiatives raised almost $1100 for the group.

With the win, the Reds improve to 17-and-9, while the Tigers drop to 6-18-2.

The Reds will head to Moncton next on Friday to take on les Aigles Bleus. Game time is 7:00pm.

The Tigers will head home to host the St FX X-Women on Wednesday.
