Moncton Downs Reds 4-1

(MONCTON, NB) The UNB Reds dropped a 4-1 decision to l'Universite de Moncton Aigles Bleues on Wednesday evening.

Moncton scored early in the first period and in the first minute of the second period, on route to their fourth win in four games against UNB this season.

Katryne Villeneuve (Casselman, ON) scored twice, including once into an empty net, while Katherine Dubuc (Victoriaville, QC) and Aude Masse (Val D'Or, QC) added singles for Moncton.

Emma Borbandy (Langdon, AB) scored the Reds goal.

It came in the third period, while UNB worked a 5-on-3 power-play.

Villeneuve was named the Subway Player of the Game.

Kendra Woodland (Kamloops, BC) made 29 saves on 32 shots before she was pulled, for an extra attacker, with 3:22 to play.

Audrey Berthiaume (St-Bruno, QC) made 27 saves on 28 shots in the Moncton net.

With the loss, the Reds record is now 13-10-4, good for fourth place in the Atlantic University Sport standings.

Les Aigles Bleues are 12-14-1, and in sixth place.

The Reds wrap up the regular season on Saturday afternoon when they play host to the UPEI Panthers. Game time is 2:00pm.

Les Aigles Bleues visit Mount Allison on Saturday, for a 5:00pm start.
