Reds Add Forward Jenny Nkuah To 2020 Recruiting Class

(FREDERICTON, NB) Forward Jennifer Nkuah, from Brampton, Ontario, is joining the UNB Reds women’s basketball team’s recruiting class of 2020.

The 6’0” Nkuah, who sports an impressive 6’6” wing span, has signed a U SPORTS Letter of Intent and will join the Reds ahead of the 2020-21 Atlantic University Sport season.

“Jenny has great length and size, which we need, and is an excellent rebounder, which we also need,” said Reds head coach Jeff Speedy. “She’s also able to score many different ways and is a great passer out of the post. I can’t wait for her to get on campus so we can get to work.”

Nkuah averaged 5.5 points per game and 5.9 rebounds per game for the Bill Crothers Secondary School Colts, of the Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association.

Crothers Secondary is the same school that produced Reds’ stand-out guard Mikaela Dodig.

“I’m very strong physically and mentally, and it allows me to gain good rebounding position and post up well, as well as being an overall solid defender,” said Nkuah. “I also have a maternal instinct, and look after my teammates as if they were my own blood. Going into next season, I’ll be able to use these strengths to get to know my teammates and their tendencies and give them that edge that a good offensive and defensive rebounder creates for a team.”

Nkuah helped the Colts advance to the OBSA’s 2019-20 Final 8, scoring a season-high 17 points in a February 10th win over rival Central Tech.

“As a student-athlete at UNB I want to help my team win the AUS and go to nationals,” she said.

“We’re very excited Jenny chose UNB,” said Coach Speedy. “She will help us on the court immediately, but to be honest, I am more excited about the person and student who is joining our Reds family.”

Nkuah will pursue a Bachelor of Science, Environmental and Natural Resources, will attending UNB.
