(ST. JOHN'S, NL) The UNB Varsity Reds defeated the Memorial Sea-Hawks 84-65 on Sunday afternoon.

The home team started strong, leading 37-35 at the half.

The Varsity Reds took over in the second.

Grace Wade scored five third quarter points, while Nicole LaFleur and Melissa Gottschall each chipped in with four.

UNB was a scorching 73.3%(11-15) from the field in the third quarter.

The Varsity Reds closed out the game by outscoring Memorial 21-15 in the fourth quarter... taking the game 84-65.

The Sea-Hawks got a strong bench performance from rookie Hallie Nickerson, who finished with 12 points on the day. Sydney Stewart also had 12 points for Memorial, while Sydney Ezekiel just missed a double-double, by scoring 11 points and pulling down 9 boards.

Much like Saturday night, UNB won with a balanced scoring attack.  Four players finished in double figures. Laura Kaye led the VReds effort with 15 points. Rachel Cleary and Hannah Currie had 13 each, while St. John's native Kiley DeLong pulled down 11 boards.

The Varsity Reds return home next weekend for a two game set with the Saint Mary's Huskies. Memorial is on the road to battle the Cape Breton Capers.
