(SHERBROOKE, QC) The U SPORTS No. 4 ranked Sherbrooke Vert et Or completed the weekend sweep of the UNB REDS with a 3-1 win on Saturday.

The Vert et Or won with scores of 25-18, 23-25, 25-17 and 25-27.

Despite the loss, REDS’ head coach Dan McMorran was pleased with his team’s effort.

“We were a much-improved team today,” he said. “I was happy with the way our guys competed throughout the entire match.”

Rafael Hilario led the REDS effort with 12 kills, while Nick Glynn registered 36 assists.

“Today was Nick’s first start since October 8th, so it was nice for him to get back in the lineup and compete again,” said McMorran.

Scott Mann, Emil Pedersen and Noah Boudreau all recorded five digs.

Yoan David recorded a game-high 18 kills to lead Sherbrooke, while Simon Coutts had 16 digs.

“I think this trip provided valuable experience for our group and showed we can compete with the best in our conference,” said Coach McMorran. “We know where we sit in the standings, a place unfamiliar to us, but we’re up for the challenge in the second half.”

UNB is now 0-8 in the RSEQ 2022-2023 standings.

The REDS will host the Vert et Or in a pair of matches on January 13th and 14th, at the Richard J. Currie Center.
