Laval Opens RSEQ Season With Win Over REDS

(QUEBEC CITY, QC) The Laval Rouge et Or scored a 3-1 win over the UNB REDS to open the 2022-23 RSEQ men's volleyball season.

Laval won with scores of 25-23, 27-25, 22-25 and 25-21.

"I thought our team battled well tonight," said REDS head coach Dan McMorran. "For the majority of the match, we competed at a very high level. We had solid performances from most of our guys."

Newcomers Rafael Hilario and Emil Pedersen led the REDS with 19 kills and 11 kills respectively.

Nathan Marshall had eight digs and 35 assists.

"Rafael had a standout match," said Coach McMorran.

Max Losier had a match-high 20 kills for Laval while William Bergeron recorded 10 digs.

"We're hoping we can bring the same level tomorrow (Saturday) and are able to get one back," said McMorran.

The REDS and Rouge et Or complete their season-opening weekend series on Saturday. First serve is scheduled for 3:30pm Atlantic.
