(SHERBROOKE, QC) The UNB Reds completed a weekend sweep of the Sherbrooke Vert et Or with a straight sets win on Saturday.

The Reds won with scores of 25-13, 25-21 and 25-16.

"We played perhaps our best match of the season on Saturday," said Reds head coach Dan McMorran. "We improved in all of the areas where we were deficient on Friday. This resulted in a dominant team performance in another energy-filled gymnasium. We served extremely well, keeping pressure on their receivers the entire match."

On Friday, UNB scored a 3-1 win over the host Vert et Or with scores of 25-22, 22-25, 25-23 and 25-23.

"Friday's match was a tough one," said McMorran. "Sherbrooke, at home, are a very dangerous squad, and a rowdy, boisterous, engaged fan contingent, complete with a student band, made for a great environment for our guys to have to contend with."

On Saturday, Connor McConnell (Hanwell, NB) led the Reds with a match-high 12 kills and 11 digs.

Jonah Winter (Valleyfield, NL) distributed 24 serve assists and Erik Kodrič (Lubljana, Slovenia) served six aces.

"We're a young team that is continuing to grow and improve," said McMorran. "I'm pleased with their progress and commitment to get better. Our toughest matches are ahead of us, so we need to keep improving in all aspects of the game."

With Saturday's win, UNB is now 4-and-6 and third in the RSEQ standings.

The Reds next action is February 1st, when they travel to Laval to face the first place Rouge et Or.
