(FREDERICTON, NB) The Winnipeg Wesmen scored a 3-0 exhibition win over the UNB Reds on Wednesday night.

The Wesmen won with scores of 25-21, 25-15 and 25-12.

The match was the first of two exhibition contests between the sides.

Things started on even terms, both sides trading points through most of the first set.

Winnipeg led 16-13 at the technical time-out, but UNB rebounded following the break to take an 18-16 lead.

After a time-out, the Wesmen rallied on route to winning the first set 25-21.

The second set saw some even play to start before the Wesmen pulled away for the 25-15 victory.

Winnipeg dominated the third set, winning 25-12.

Daniel Thiessen (Winnipeg, MB) led the Wesmen with nine kills and seven blocks, while Darian Picklyk (Birds Hill, MB) had 10 digs.

Connor McConnell (Hanwell, NB) and Drew Duncan (Winnipeg, MB) led the Reds with nine kills and nine digs respectively.

The Wesmen and Reds play the re-match on Thursday, at 7:00pm, at UNB's Richard J. Currie Center.
