Varsity Reds Sweep Sea-Hawks

(ST. JOHN'S, NL) The UNB Varsity Reds scored a 3-0 win over the Memorial Sea-Hawks on Saturday night, in St. John's.

UNB improves to 6-and-8 on the season, while Memorial falls to 0-and-14.

Memorial and UNB traded points early in the first set, with UNB pulling ahead behind a few big kills by Elvind Anderson. Anderson finished the game with the team lead in kills, with 10,and points, with 11. He also led the way defensively, with 8 digs.

The Reds were able to maintain that lead for the rest of the set on their way to a 25-21 win.

Memorial jumped out to a big lead in the second, behind some great team defense.

Jordan Murray and Jared Stokes kept coming up with digs, which were converted into Sea-Hawks points. Stokes led the way for the Sea-Hawks with 8 digs, while Murray finished with 6.

UNB battled back and managed to win the set 25-23.

The Varsity Reds kept the momentum going in the final set and cruised to a 25-12 win.

Matthew Losier finished with 24 assists and 5 digs for the Varsity Reds.

UNB and Memorial square off again, Sunday afternoon.
