Barry Morrison enters his sixth season as head coach of the REDS in 2025 and 18th season as a professional coach.
In 2024, Morrison's REDS went 4-4-4, good for 6th place in the Atlantic University Sport standings. Hosting the AUS Championship Tournament, UNB upset No. 3 Saint Mary's and No. 2 Memorial before falling, in double OT, to No. 1 STFX in the conference championship game.
Morrison was named Atlantic University Sport Coach of the Year in 2022, leading the REDS to a tie for second place in the conference standings with a 7-3-2 regular season record and a semi-final berth in the AUS championship tournament.
In 2021, Morrison guided the REDS to a 7-4-1 record and third place in the AUS standings. UNB went 1-1 at the AUS championship tournament, bowing out in the conference semi-finals.
Hired in May of 2020, Morrison's first season as coach of the REDS was lost to the pandemic.
Prior to taking over as the head coach of the REDS, Morrison served seven years as an assistant coach.
As part of an agreement between the REDS and the Fredericton District Soccer Association, Morrison added the role of head coach of UNB’s men’s team to his job as the club’s head coach, a job he’s held for more than eight years.
Morrison began his coaching career in 1999, quickly progressing through the FDSA ranks.
On two separate occasions, in 2005 and again in 2007, he served as an assistant with UNB’s women’s soccer team.
He took over the FDSA’s head coaching job in March of 2012, and joined the Reds men’s team in 2013.
He's qualified as a National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) Master Learning Facilitator, a Chartered Professional Coach, he's a National Coaching Institute graduate with a diploma in Coaching High Performance Sport, and has worked 13 years as a full-time coach and coach educator.
