(FREDERICTON, NB) The U SPORTS No. 9 ranked UNB Reds blanked the UPEI Panthers 3-0 on Sunday.

Joe Hamilton (Morecambe, UK), Dan Walker (Fredericton, NB), and Tristan Nkoghe (Sherbrooke QC) all scored goals for the Reds, who improved their record to 2-1-1.

Evan Barker (Winnipeg, MB) made five saves in the UNB net to earn the clean sheet.

Hamilton opened the scoring in the 19thminute, heading a corner kick past Panthers' keeper Brett Strba (Fall River, NS).

Walker pushed UNB's lead to 2-0 in the 35thminute.

Nkoghe, a dominant offensive presence the entire game, was rewarded with a goal off a set piece in the 61stminute.

"Me and Dan were both back post, and it was a good delivery by Luis (Garcia) into the box," said Nkoghe.

"We needed that win," he said. "After yesterday's draw, it was kind of a bummer, today we needed to conclude the weekend on a strong note. We'll take the three points and move on to next weekend."

Nkoghe was named Subway Player of the Game.

While the Panthers did manage five shots on the Reds net, they struggled offensively.

"They're good opponents," said Strba of the Reds. "They're organized, they know what they're doing, and they'll be hard to breakdown come playoff time."

The Panthers, now 1-3, return to Charlottetown where they'll host the Memorial Sea-Hawks on Saturday.

The Reds host St FX on Sunday. Game time is 3:15pm.
