VReds Sit Atop AUS Standings

(FREDERICTON, NB) The UNB Varsity Reds men's soccer team defeated the Mt. Allison University Mounties 2-0 in regular season play, at BMO Centre.

The win caps a six point weekend for UNB and puts the Varsity Reds atop the AUS standings with only two regular season games remaining.

The VReds got off to a strong start, controlling play in the first half and scoring early.

In the 9th minute, Marcus Lees (Barrie, ON) found the back of the net off a rebound in the 18-yard box. UNB would take that lead to half-time.

The second half began slowly, both teams unable to find a rhythm. Some individual efforts were made, but neither team was able to finish.

It wasn't until the 80th minute that UNB's Robbie Park (Glasgow, UK) would finish an excellent cross by Steven Miller (London, ON) to make it 2-0.

The Subway player of the game for UNB was Steven Miller (London, ON). For Mt. Allison, it was Kyle Milley (Fredericton, NB).

The Varsity Reds will be in Wolfville, to play the Acadia Axemen, on Friday, October 29th. UNB hosts its last regular season game Sunday, November 1st, against the UPEI Panthers.
