V-Reds take Aigles Bleus 6-1

(Fredericton, N.B.) The UNB Varsity Reds men's soccer team bested the UdeM Aigles Bleus 6-1 at the BMO field in Fredericton.

The first half opened with intensity coming from both sides but it was Marcus Lees (Barrie, ON) who opened the scoring in the eighth minute for the Varsity Reds. The second goal for UNB came from Oliver Jones (London, UK) who finished a rebound from his own shot in the six-yard box. 

The second half opened up with Jones scoring his second of the game off of a corner-kick. UdeM responded with a goal by Christian Yapi (Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire).

UNB's head coach Miles Pinsent made multiple substitutes which proved to be beneficial for the Varsity Reds. Both Patrick Cormier (Fredericton, NB) and Robbie Park (Glasgow, Scotland) scored the fourth and fifth goals for the Varsity Reds on their first touches of the game. Later in the second half Park found the back of the net, yet again, to make it a 6-1 final to end the game. 

Subway Player of the Game for the UNB Varsity Reds, with two goals in the match, Oliver Jones. As well as, UdeM's lone goal scorer Christian Yapi.

 UNB travels to Sackville, N.B. Saturday, October 3rd to face the MTA Mounties and UdeM will take on the Mounties on Sunday October 4th
