(WOLFVILLE, NS) The visiting UNB Reds scored a 4-2 win over the Acadia Axemen Friday, extending their winning streak to 11 games.

The Axemen were first on the scoreboard. Johnny Corneil (Lindsay, ON) finished a short-handed two-on-one break, beating Reds goalie Samuel Harvey (Alma, QC) with a backhand.

The rest of the high-flying first period saw chances at both ends, but no more goals. The Axemen led 1-0 after 20 minutes but trailed UNB's 13-10 shots on goal advantage.

The second frame was a scoreless one, the highlight coming from Axemen goaltender Logan Flodell (Regina, SK) who robbed UNB's Tyler Boland (St. John's, NL) with a flashy glove save on a one-timer.

Early in the third, UNB tied the game.

Kris Bennett (Brampton, ON) found a loose puck in front of the goal and showed great patience to maneuver around the goalie before sliding the puck past the outstretched Flodell. The goal was short-handed.

The Reds carried the momentum, adding a second goal about eight minutes into the period. Samuel Dove-McFalls (Montreal, QC) found a rebound from a Matt Murphy (Fredericton, NB) shot, giving UNB their first lead of the night.

Brady Gilmour (Grafton, ON) capitalized on a power-play opportunity with 8:51 remaining in the third. His wrist shot beat Flodell glove side, deflecting off the crossbar and in.

The Axemen bounced back, scoring with abojt six minutes to play. Ross MacDougall (St. Stephen, NB) dumped the puck on net from the neutral zone and then charged all the way from centre ice to fire home the misplayed rebound.

Bennett added an empty net goal, for his second score of the game.

"I thought we came out strong in the first and kind of took it to them, but in the second they kind of took it back to us," said Acadia forward Eric Henderson (Kingsville, ON). "They are the number one team in the country for a reason. They had a good push and we really didn't have a response to it."

Shots were 45-22 in favour of the Reds.

The Axemen host Moncton on Saturday, while the Reds visit Saint Mary's.
