(MONCTON, NB) Mark Rassell (Calgary, AB) scored twice to lead the UNB Reds to a 4-2 win over l'Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus on Wednesday night.

Rassell's first goal, at 9:45 of the second period, stood as the Reds' game-winner.

He added UNB's insurance marker just 37 seconds into the third, earning Subway Player of the Game honours.

Stephen Anderson (Morell, PE) and Patrick Watling (Sault Ste. Marie, ON) both had a goal and an assist for the Reds, while Oliver Cooper (Fredericton, NB) assisted on both of Rassell's goals.

Anderson put the visitors on the scoreboard first, at 6:13 of the opening period, but Moncton's Joey Richard (Dieppe, NB) tied the game less than a minute and a half later.

With the Reds working on the power-play, Watling gave UNB a 2-1 lead at 17:32, and the visitors would take that lead into the first intermission.

Rassell extended UNB's lead to 3-1 before Maxime St-Cyr (St-Didace, QC) scored Moncton's second goal with less than a minute to play in the second period.

Rassell's second, early in the third, capped the scoring.

Samuel Harvey (Alma, QC) stopped 14 of 16 shots in the UNB net, while Etienne Montpetit (Valleyfield, QC) was 31-for-35 in the Moncton net.

With the win, the Reds are now 7-2. Moncton falls to 3-4-2.

Les Aigles Bleus host the UPEI Panthers on Friday, at 7:00pm.

The Reds host those same Panthers on Saturday. Game time is 7:00pm, at the Aitken Centre.
