UNB tops Moncton 7-2

(MONCTON, N.B.) The UNB Varsity Reds men's hockey team defeated the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus 7-2 in front of a Moncton crowd of 1,200. 

Jordan Murray had two goals for the V-Reds in the third period in addition to an assist in the first. Rob Mignardi, Cameron Brace, Taylor MacDougall, Tyler Carroll and Cameron Critchelow had one goal apiece to bring UNB's total to seven. Phillip Hailey racked up two assists and Randy Gazzola had three.

Allain Saulnier (Pierre Durepos, Alex Saulnier), posted the first goal for les Aigles Bleus on a 5-3 power play. Jean-François Plante (Mitchell Robillard, Allain Saulnier) had Moncton's short-handed second goal. In net for Moncton, Adrien Lemay faced 38 shots, 19 in the first period alone. In net for UNB, Chris Carrozzi blocked 20 out of 22 shots for the vicotry.  

"I told the players that if they want to win the Canadian chmapionship, they have to find a way to play better against teams like this," siad Moncton head coach Serge Bourgeois. "They have to find a way to score. We had chances to score with three breakways and we didn't do it."

"We have to change some things for Saturday," he added. "It's time to get back to the details and simplify our game to find the way to win."
