(ST. JOHN'S, NL) The Memorial Sea-Hawks earned a split of a weekend series with the UNB Reds, scoring an 87-77 win on Sunday.

The Hawks hit their first three shots, but UNB stayed with them, providing a high-scoring first quarter of basketball.

Memorial grew their lead throughout the first half, leading 23-14 after the first quarter and 45-29 at the half.

UNB struggled to convert on offense in the first half, shooting under 40-percent from the field and under 60-percent from the foul line.

Daniel Pitcher (Sydney, Australia) was the leader for the Reds, continuing his solid performance from Saturday. At the half, Pitcher had 10 points and four rebounds.

The third quarter was a continuation of the first half.

The Hawks kept their pace up and maintained a lead. UNB struggled to string together any runs to cut away at the lead.

In the fourth quarter, the Reds staged a late rally, stringing together three straight and-one plays giving them much needed energy.

Ibrahima Doumbouya (Calgary, AB) led UNB in scoring with 18, while Pitcher finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Memorial goes to Wolfville next weekend, for a two-game series against the Axemen.

The Reds, now 6-3 and sitting in second in the Atlantic University Sport standings, return home and will host the Cape Breton Capers on Friday and Saturday.
