(ST. JOHN'S, NL) The UNB Reds earned a 91-84 win Saturday in the first of two four-point weekend games at the Memorial Sea-Hawks.

The game started with both teams putting up points quickly and efficiently.

UNB scored their first six points off quick shots from deep. Memorial attacked the basket too, leading to frequent trips to the line for easy points. Unfortunately for the Hawks, the Reds controlled the first half, building a 27-18 first quarter lead.

Entering the second quarter, Memorial struggled to keep control of the ball, committing 11 turnovers in the first half.

In the end, UNB managed to ride out the Hawks with consistency at both ends of the court.

Daniel Pitcher (Sydney, Australia) led UNB with 22 points, earning Subway Player of the Game honours. Pitcher was 9-of-15 from the field.

Chris Spurrell (Quispamsis, NB) added 19 points.

The Reds and Hawks close out their weekend series on Sunday. Game time is 1:30pm Atlantic.
