CBU Gets Past UNB

(SYDNEY, NS) The Cape Breton Capers beat the UNB Reds 95-82, their first victory of the season, on Friday.

Cape Breton jumped out to a 28-16 first quarter lead and used a balanced attack in the second quarter to build that lead to 15.

CBU was up 46-31 at half time.

In the third quarter, both teams traded buckets throughout.

The fourth was more of the same, as the teams went back and forth with no real runs by either team.

The Capers were led by Shacier Locke (Mississauga, ON) with 22 points and nine rebounds. He was named Subway Player of the Game.

The Reds got strong games from Ibrahima Doumbouya (Calgary, AB) with 21 points and 11 rebounds, while  Will Legere (Amherst, NS) scored 17. 

With the win, the Capers are now 1-3, while the Reds are 3-2.

The two teams face each other again on Saturday. Game time is scheduled for 3:00pm.
