AITKEN UNIVERSITY CENTRE
The Aitken University Centre is home to the University of New Brunswick’s REDS women’s hockey program and the nine-time national champion REDS men’s hockey team.
Both teams play their home games and practice on the AUC’s 200ft. by 85ft. ice surface.
Opened in 1976, the Aitken Centre has dedicated dressing and training rooms for both the men’s and women’s hockey teams, dressing rooms for visiting teams, dressing rooms for public use, seating capacity for 3200+ for on-ice events, VIP boxes and media facilities.

The largest seated facility in Fredericton, the Aitken Centre features 17,000 sq. feet of floor space, portable staging, lighting and an in-house electronic ticketing system used with a standard box office, as well as phone and on-line sales.
The Aitken Centre has played host to the University Cup, the tournament to determine Canada’s men’s university hockey champion, on six occasions (2003, 2004, 2011, 2012, 2017, 2018). It’s also hosted the Canadian university wrestling championships (2014), the Canadian university women’s volleyball championship (2008, 2009), and the Canadian university women’s basketball championship (2006). The AUC has also hosted concerts, graduation ceremonies, political conventions and other events.
There are hundreds of parking spaces located close to the Aitken Centre, and the building is fully accessible.
