Malik Grant, of the men’s basketball team, is the UNB REDS/Papa John’s Pizza male Athlete of the Week.
The first-year forward was a force as the REDS scored a Friday win on their two-game weekend road trip.
Grant scored 19 points in Friday’s 94-85 victory at Cape Breton. Grant also had eight rebounds and six assists, earning Player of the Game honours.
On Saturday, in a 92-77 loss at STFX, Grant scored 24 points on 7-of-10 shooting from three-point range. He added six rebounds, three assists and a steal.
“Malik is getting more and more comfortable on the floor after missing significant time in the preseason due to injury,” said REDS head coach Joe Salerno. “His ability to not only score the ball but distribute and make others around him better was evident this weekend. We are looking forward to a big second half of the season from Malik."
Grant and his REDS teammates resume their Atlantic University Sport regular season schedule when they host the Saint Mary’s Huskies, on January 6th.
