The UNB Reds/Papa John’s Pizza male Athlete of the Week is Tyler Boland, from the men’s hockey team.
Boland played a critical role as the Reds split a pair of weekend games.
In Friday’s 3-1 loss to Saint Mary’s, Boland scored UNB’s lone goal. He was also an impressive 11-for-14 on face-offs.
In Saturday’s exciting 4-3 win over Acadia, the third-year forward scored twice, including the winning goal with less than a minute to play, and was named the player of the game.
“Tyler has continued to push his standards and consistency to new levels,” said Reds head coach Gardiner MacDougall. “His efforts helped us beat Acadia and grab a share of first place in the AUS standings.”
Boland and his teammates welcome Moncton to the Aitken Centre on Friday, and visit UPEI on Saturday.
