The UNB Reds/Papa John’s Pizza male Athlete of the Week is Ben Gorringe, from the men’s soccer team.
The fifth-year midfielder scored twice as the Reds split a pair of weekend games, earning Player of the Game honours in Sunday’s victory at St FX.
Gorringe scored UNB’s only goal in Friday’s 2-1 loss at Cape Breton.
In Sunday’s 4-1 victory over the X-Men, he played another strong game, scoring his second goal of the season late in the contest.
“Our team captain served as a real spark plug as we played against some tough opponents,” said Reds head coach Miles Pinsent. “Ben’s energy and work ethic allowed him to be impactful in both games.”
Gorringe and his teammates host Memorial and UPEI in games this coming weekend.
