The UNB Reds/Papa John’s Pizza female athlete of the week is Grace Simpson, from the women’s basketball team.
Simpson was UNB’s leading scorer in a pair of weekend wins at Memorial.
On Saturday, she scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in UNB’s 87-79 win over the Sea-Hawks. She also contributed five assists and two steals.
In Sunday’s 77-70 victory, Simpson scored 19 points and had nine rebounds.
“Grace was one rebound away from consecutive double-doubles,” says Reds head coach Jeff Speedy. “She had a great weekend, even iced our come from behind win on Sunday with a key jump shot at the end of a possession late in the game.”
Simpson and her teammates host the Cape Breton Capers, at the Richard J. Currie Center, Friday and Saturday.
