The UNB Reds/Papa John’s Pizza male athlete of the week is Alex Dubeau, from the men’s hockey team.
Dubeau backstopped UNB’s three wins as the Reds captured the 2019 University Cup, in Lethbridge, Alberta.
He faced a total of 77 shots in the three wins, stopping 73 of them. Dubeau finished the tournament with a respectable 1.33 goals against average and a sparkling .948 save percentage, earning national championship Most Valuable Player honours.
“Alex had some of his best performances at the national championship,” said Reds head coach Gardiner MacDougall. “His combined record in the AUS playoffs and U Cup games of 15-and-1 is legendary.”
