Jayda Veinot, of the women’s basketball team, is the UNB REDS/Valley Graphics female Athlete of the Month, for January.
The fourth-year wing, playing her first season with the REDS, made consistent contributions as the REDS went 4-and-3 in seven games.
Veinot scored 134 points in January, grabbed 50 rebounds and dished out 14 assists as the REDS battled for a spot in the Atlantic University Sport championship tournament.
“Jayda sets the tone offensively for us and took over each game for a stretch of time,” said REDS’ head coach Jeff Speedy.
Veinot and her teammates finish their regular season schedule in February, with games against STFX, Memorial and Acadia.
