The UNB Reds/Valley Graphics male athlete of the month, for February, is Mark Rassell, from the men’s hockey team.
The first-year forward scored five goals and added two assists as the Reds went a perfect 6-0 in February, winning their final three regular season games and their first three playoff games.
Rassell was particularly effective in UNB’s four February games against the UPEI Panthers.
He scored twice in the team’s final regular season game against UPEI, then had a goal in all three of their AUS semi-final games.
“Mark has continued to improve his work ethic and practice habits,” said Reds head coach Gardiner MacDougall. “That has resulted in an increased game performance on a consistent basis.”
Rassell and his teammates, the 2018-19 AUS Champions, head to the 2019 Cavendish Farms University Cup, in Lethbridge, Alberta, March 14-17.
